Biography

In his career to date Paul has already earned himself a formidable reputation as a solid, versatile and hard working drummer. His relentless dedication, enthusiasm and professional approach as a live performer, in the studio and as a professional teacher and workshop leader, have brought him huge success, including international tours, national radio and television appearances and major festival appearances.

As a budding young drummer Paul first studied drums with the Berkshire Young Musicians Trust. After leaving school Paul studied music performance and production at East Berkshire College in Langley. He then went on to study drums at the ACM (Academy of Contemporary Music), Guildford, and was taught by top drummers Mike Sturgis and Pete Riley.

Upon leaving the ACM Paul played for many bands and artists, honing his skills in many different styles, Rock, Punk, Pop, Dance, Folk and Indie. Paul also managed many live music events including 'artist/event support' for Ed Frietas' team's Guinness World Record attempt of 'Longest Snare Drum Roll by a group', (which set a new world record of 22hrs non-stop)!

In August 2006 Paul was hired by Indie-Synth-Pop artist, Mr Fogg (EMI/Worst Case Scenario Records), to play as part of his live show. A UK tour to promote the single Seciov (Worst Case Scenario Records) commenced, kicking off with an appearance to a 3000 strong crowd at The Carling Stage, Reading Festival 2006. The tour also included a live session on BBC Radio 2's Janice Long Show, and an appearance on BBC 1 television's South Today. Mr Fogg was played by BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, BBC 6 Music, XFM, MTV2 and QTV.

In October 2006 Paul joined Pure Reason Revolution (SonyBMG/Inside Out). In early 2007 Pure Reason Revolution released the double disc European version of their debut album The Dark Third on Inside Out. This release was followed by hugely successful tours in Europe, supporting Blackfield (Atlantic/Snapper), and UK as a headline act.

In June and July 2007 Paul was out on the road with Mr Fogg to support his follow up single 'Stung', released on Little League Records. The tour included live radio sessions on XFM music:response and again on BBC Radio 2's Janice Long Show. 'Stung' was championed by Steve Lamacq and Huw Stephens on BBC Radio 1, was play listed by XFM and was 'record of the week' for Tom Robinson on BBC 6 Music. The video was played by MTV2 and QTV.

In June 2007 Pure Reason Revolution went to the USA to play a short tour, including an appearance at the highly acclaimed progressive-rock festival 'Nearfest'. July 2007 brought another hugely successful European tour, this time as main support for Porcupine Tree (Atlantic/ Roadrunner) covering 13 countries in 16 days.

In December 2007, to further his learning and development, Paul started studying with highly respected drumming legend Bob Armstrong. Bob has an outstanding record and reputation throughout the music industry and the drumming fraternity as a whole, and has taught many of the star players of today. Paul has risen to the challenge of studying with Bob who is widely considered to be the UKs no.1 tutor.

2008 has been a busy year for Paul. Pure Reason Revolution have been recording the follow up album to The Dark Third (Song/BMG), performing sold out London shows at Water Rats Kings Cross and The Barfly Camden, and European shows as both support to Porcupine Tree and as a headliner (which included a 60minute performance on critically acclaimed German TV show Rock Palast!) In addition to his Pure Reason Revolution duties Paul has been working with many other bands and artists; these have included Russells Teapot, Kasia, Mr Fogg, SjW and Bryony Jackson.

Paul hopes to continue this success both with Pure Reason Revolution and as an individual, increasing his experience as a professional musician and increasing the network of artists and bands with which he works.
